message notice to those following me on the SWV Website..

The awesome duo - Amy and Alan, shall be running the show for the morning, and IF
you can, please get out there on time, and try to help them out. Also, the sooner that
everyone gets out, the sooner full teams will be set up and gaming the day away.

It will again be a HOT one, so PLEASE, highly recommend to all, extra water, something
to eat, Sand Socks, Shades, Beach Towel, Sun-Screen, and some Bug Spray too! Please
come prepared, as always, with what you need to play safely, and to play well.

Games ON for Saturday - July 30th, 2022
Start time at 9:30 am.

Hi folks,
- The weekend looks a LOT better than last weekend, so hope to see all that can make it on out.

- Thanks to you folks that made the trip last week. It was HOt and a tough day to play, however, if we learned anything we learned EXTRA WATER is always a good thing, and SAND SOCKS ( or anything you can put on your feet in the hot sand ) is important 111

- This weekend, hopefully will be better, BUT it's highly recommended to always be prepared and bring everything you need to play safely, and to allow you to enjoy the day. So please think ahead.

- Other note, for ALL, I'm bringing down several bags of SWV t's, Hoodies, etc., that I have. Looking to sell off everything as much as possible, and offering good rate reductions from what I paid to get these things out the door. So, bring your scheckles tomorrow, and BUT a T or Two, etc... 😉

- Hope to see everyone down ON TIME ( 9:30 am ) so we can get full teams and games up and running as evenly as possible. So please do your best to be there when we start up.

Hi folks,

   We are a GO for this coming Saturday.  Hope to see all that can make it on out.
Start time 9:30am.

    It’s expected to be HOT – HOT – HOT !!!  Please come with Extra Water, some
salty snack, Foot protection, Sun Block, Bug Spray, Sun Shades, and everything
else you NEED to play safely.

   ALSO, to ALL…  In order to play in our league there are TWO items you MUST
do and have done. 
- 1).  Completely Fill out the 2022 Player Waiver Form, and hand
that in to ME.  I have extra waiver for blanks with me, so  if  you don’t get it from
our SWV website  or Facebook page, ASK  ME 2!!!!   And  I will help  you out.
- 2).  EVErYONE MUST have a current/in good standing membership to
the  AVPAmerica.Com .  This is the Liability Insurance all players must carry.  GO
to the website, join up,  pick the $15 Bronze membership ( and only the Bronze one ).
That information will be  shown on the Waiver Form that you send  in to me.  At  this
point, unless you’ve never been down, you should know about it, and will get it  done.

2 Only thing is, no Advanced League Play tomorrow, as Dennis is out, and some of the other Staff
are playing in the Jone's State Tournament, so good luck and fun gaming to those folks

Let's start our gaming by 9:30 am sharp !1!

Well, the weather looks like a good one. Come PREPARED ( Water, Sun shades, Sand Socks, trail-miix, etc, etc., etc. )

Let's have our games get going by 9:30 am. Again, as people come and go, we switch things up to try and level off the

game play. last week, although a bit down on the number, I thought the teams really played well. Three hits, good passing,

good back & forth etc.. So, I hope for more of the same.

Remember, play by the SWV Rules, which you can find posted somewhere here on our SWV page, AND on the Facebook

page too. Also it is very important at this point for EVERYONE that is and or wants to play to have a current AVPAmerica

Membership ( Bronze level only - $15 per year ), and fill out the Player Waiver Form ( COMPLETELY ) and hand it in to ME !

Saturday - 05-14, GAMES ON
Start Time - 10 am ....

Hi ALL my VBall peeps !

Well, it looks like this coming Saturday is possible to try and do some playing. So, we are saying Games ON.
we will be starting an hour later, so Start Time is 10 am !!!!! and we will just go and play and see how the day
moves on. 🙂

PLEASE come prepared! I really have no idea if we'll get hit with a few sprinkles or not, making us all run-away,
OR if the sun will come out, and we'll have our first hot day of the beginning to our 2022 Summer season????
Time will tell.

Further, it is IMPORTANT; You ALL need to have the AVP American Membership. Further, I NEED your Player Waiver
Form signed out in full and handed in to me. That is for all those who've not already done so that play in the Monday
and Wednesday Team League sessions.

So, without further ado, here's hoping that we can come out, have some fun, be SAFE, play well, and enjoy this
season down at Seamans Neck. Any questions, hit me up ( text, email, FB, etc., etc., etc. ) you all should know the
drill by now.

- Due to the pending crappy weather ( too cold and high possibility for rain ) is forcing me to postpone our 2022 season kickoff. It's sad, BUT, I rather begin things on a much better footing, and with much less chance of anyone becoming sick and or hurt due to the current conditions.

- No fear tho, as this is only one day from the entire summer of 2022 yet to come, and I hope and know we'll have many many more days to have some fun out there.

- So, in it's place, go and have some fun doing other things, ( for me that's SLEEPING ! ! ! ) and to ALL, have a Happy Mother's Day celebration. Catch you folks next time.

Everyone NEEDS to have a current, in good standing, AVP Membership, and agree to play by the Rules set we have.

That said, I hope you'll all be able to receive this email with the attachment, download it, print it out, FILL IT OUT CLEARLY and FULLY, and bring it down to the courts when we next play. We are HOPING that May 7th, Saturday, is the day that things will being for our summer Open Game League play.

Hi folks,
Sammy here. Just a final note on the Winter Game - PolarBall VI. Games ON for tomorrow, Saturday 22nd, starting at 9:30 am.

Dennis will be hosting, and could use all the help he can to get games up and running smoothly, so if you can make there on time, and or close to it, it would be appreciated.

As typical, we are requesting help also with pitching in with bringing something maybe HOT to drink and or eat. Anyone with a fold-up table, to bring along will also help out.

As usual, it's gonna be C-O-L-D !!!!! So, please dress appropriately, and although we love to hear about those polar-bear club folks, I suggest dressing in multiple layers along with gloves, scarf, hat, etc., etc., etc.... good footware too! The ground most likely will be like the surface of the moon, so something with ankle support is a good idea. Let's be SAFE and SMART with whatever we're doing, and for all of us to enjoy and to have a fun day out! Play well !!!

ALSO :

On a side note, I got word that one of our VBall troop has gone through a rough bit. Pete Grassel, had to have some "Fix-My-Damn-Hip" stuff recently, and is now home recovering. And if you get and read the facebook posts, you'll understand my point of view as the Medical Chip-Heads says "he's having some discomfort"...... which as you know means He's in DAMNED PAIN ! ! ! ! ! !

So, for that, and as this is a closed send email, if you'd like to maybe send him a little note to say Get Better Soon, as we need the bodies out there on the courts come summer time, you can send it to him at the following address; ( again with given permission use the following )

Hi Folks,

- Our annual polarball winter game is coming up. So, hope to see EVERYONE that would like to come out, and have some VBall fun in the middle of winter !!!

- This is an Open Game, free-bee, come and play game day. All we ask is that you come prepared, and help out.

- First, bring anything you need to play safely and stay WARM. Dress in layers. We ask that everyone Please bring a steel tipped shovel ( as we've learned ) sometime we need this item to get down to the court should there be snow and ice build-up. We are also asking that you please bring something to share with the rest of the group; Hot Drinks, Food, Cups and Paper-towels, etc.... Please advise us of what you'd like to bring so we can reduce overlap of stuff . . . . .

- Please contact DENNIS at swvolleyballdg@gmail.com and Sammy at sammyc@optonline.net Please RSVP that your coming and what you'd like to bring beyond what we are asking you to also have on hand for that day..... ( i.e. the shovel!!! ). 🙂

- Hopefully things will go to plan and we'll have fun as we've had the last 5 years running this crazy day. Note that IF it's really bad that we can't make it out, we have a built in Rain Date of Saturday, January 29th, 2022. Same times to start. Of course, as always, we will take every day as we get to it and modify anything we need to as is required.

- IF anyone also has a folding table they could bring along that would be helpful as well. We could use about two of them minimally to put all the stuff folks are bringing down ( typically ).

- SO, hope to see you then and there, and between now and then, to ALL, have a Wonderful Holiday Season, a Merry Christmas, and a safe and Happy New Years 2022 celebration ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

   SWV is out for this weekend, HOWEVER, there IS Volleyball.

Mr. Bob Rozakis is running a Saturday of "Renegade VBall".  He will be there at 9:30 am to about 12:00 pm.

There has been a change in mask policy since the spring. The current requirement is that everyone MUST wear a mask at all times in the school. We will be back to nine nights for the Fall season. Mondays will begin on September 27, skip Columbus Day (10/13), and end on November 29. Tuesdays will begin on October 5 (September 28 is Back to School Night) and run straight through to November 30. (We will be playing on Election Day.) Wednesdays will begin on September 29, skip the night before Thanksgiving (11/24), and end on December 1st.
At this time, there are no scheduled high school games that will impact our schedule.

SO there it is.  I highly suggest everyone interested act on this INFO as soon as possible to get into the day that you wish and hope to play in.

Games this weekend are ON. Start time 9:30 am. I'm asking all to come prepared and show up on time so we can get the full teams up and running as soon as possible. Again, come prepared to play safely; meaning - Water, Bug Spray, Sun Glasses, etc...

ALSO, I'm once again recommending highly to obey the Covid Restrictions. Not that I'm crazy about enforcement for masks, etc., I will say at least let's maintain good social distancing, no high-fiving after games, etc.. Just wave and air hugz for now. 😉 Let's try to do our part to make sure that our organization does what it can to keep things as safe as always.

Unfortunately, due to personal matters I will be unable to run things this weekend. Believe me when I say I would much rather be down at Seamans Neck hanging out than doing what I must do. BUT, there are times in our lives when we need to be responsible, and show the support needed to our friends and family that go through very, very tough times. 🙁

To ALL I say, have a wonderful weekend. Do something fun, and enjoy family and friends !!!!! We will catch up next weekend, and in hopefully better weather and times. 🙂

To All SWV Vballers,

• We are a "GO" for this Saturday, 06-26-2021.  Should be a good day, a bit humid and hot, with a small chance of rain.  COME PREPARED!!! Water, Sand Socks, Some nibbles of food, Sun Block, BUG spray, more water! etc....  Play safe, play well.

-   I HOPE this will be the lat time I must urge and state this in my emails out to our group, as everyone should know and understand all about this at this time;  You MUST have submitted to me ( or will ASAP ) the 2021 Player Sign Up / Covid Affidavit sheet.  On it, print and sign clearly all your information!!!!  Also, Saturday's cost is $2 per person, per day's play.  There's a small Blue Capped Jar at my little table, just drop your remittance in that and we're all good.

-   The year has been a struggle on many fronts for some reason, BUT SWV things are moving along well.  Let's continue to be smart about playing, like - keeping those Covid rules that we must abide by in place, and keep each other safe! ! ! ! ! ! !.  Also, for any new-comers, note the RULES that we play by. In case you have any questions about things, ask myself or Dennis about things, and it will be explained to you in full.  But, if anyone has played nearly anywhere, the rules are pretty much the same for typical CoEd 6's, except for the NO KICKING ALLOWED AT ALL, EVER, FOREVER, WITHOUT EXCEPTION rule, just in case I haven't specified that THAT is my biggest pet peeve. 
IF you need to use your feet when playing, there's a soccer field nearby. Go there!!!!

Anthony Giordano Passed Away Tuesday Morning.

Hi folks,

   I am very sad to have to report to you all on the passing of one of our most beloved "VBall Family" members.  Anthony Giordano passed away yesterday morning at his home.

   Anthony passed away yesterday morning, at some time in his sleep I was informed.  This is a complete shock and tragedy and was very unexpected as those of us who knew him, remember how well he had been doing and recovering from his stroke he had about three years ago.  I was given permission to tell everyone that wants to know, and pass the word along on services, etc., for him.  So here's the information on funeral services for Anthony.

   Games ON this weekend.  A few reminder notes to all;  1).  ALL VBallers MUST have their AVP Membership's.  2).  ALL VBallers MUST sign and hand in their Covid-2021 Sign Up Sheets to ME.  and 3). For Saturday, there's a Fee to ALL VBallers of $2.00 per person per day. ( Exact Change Please )!

   Even all newcomers, these things must be followed in order to make sure we're all good with the rules and for safety.  Any other questions on any of this stuff drop me a note, and I'll try to explain to you.  So, if you're planning to recruit some folks or ask friends down, help them out to be ready to have everything in order.  We love adding folks to our group, and we MUST maintain the rules to do so.  Thx!  😉

   ALSO, we are running our 2021 Season T-Shirts and Hoodies order very soon.  SO I'm sending a note out to everyone that IF you wanna look "Stylish" and "Cool" while playing down at Seamans Neck, at one of our Sammy's Weekend Things, you might want to order one or two or more of our T's and Hoodies. 🙂  🙂  

   The Colors are a WHITE background ( T or Hoodie ), with our Dark Blue Logo.   Pricing is thusly;  sizes up to 2XL is $15.00 per T-Shirt.  Sizes 3XL and over is $20.00 per T-shirt.  ALL Hoodies up to 3XL is $30.00 per unit.

   What you must do is EMAIL ME your FULL NAME, what you want ( T or Hoodie or both, etc. ), the Size you want, and How many you want.  Again, TIME IS SHORT, and this will probably be my only notice for this, so if you want a New 2021 Season Shirt, let me know SOON ! ! ! ! !

2).  ALSO I have the pleasure to pass on some other good news to show that things are trying to get back to normal, and I mean the REAL normal for all our lives.  A good friend of our league and group, Mr. Richard Heiles, of East End Volleyball ( EEVB ), has put out info on another one of their Team Leagues that is slated to start up soon.  I've attached the EEVB 2021 Flyer for the North Hempstead Beach Park ( formerly known as Bar Beach ) See Below. They are having Tuesday's and Thursday's as their new 6's coed teams. Contact EEVB for more information and sign up.

   If you are interested but don't have a full team, they're taking Free Agents as well, and will help to get you on a team.  SO, for ALL those interested in MORE volleyball this summer season, I've provided all the contact information to EEVB so you can reach out and hopefully join up.  It's good to support those who support our league, so tell them Sammy sent you there way. 😉

Please note that this season we had a few update and changes, and so, EVERYONE must bring me their Information, especially if you have changes, Bring me your Covid Affidavit form signed and dated, AND please note that now on Saturday's there's a fee to play.... $2 bucks per person per Days Play. Shouldn't break the bank, and the funds raised can help to pay for stuff we need.

Notes . . . .

Hi folks,

   Want to thank ALL those that were able to drop by the other day and help out at the volleyball courts.  I think we've definitely spruced things up greatly, and definitely fixed those nets. So again, a BIG thanks to you all, as I and Dennis would NOT have been able to nearly that much, even if given two days time.  Those who dropped on by were, in order of cast appearence;

Paulene, Kevin P, Jimmy, Alan, Anna, Kevin S, John, Amy, Vanessa B, Cole, Gerry A, and Cynthia...  

   Want to drop a quick note to all that the AVPAmerica website should be opened for business, however, some folks that have had past and current accounts are having issues.  It sees your info, and then automatically forwards it to a GOLD membership.  You will have to contact Customer Support, and also WAIT until a day after your membership expires for them to be able to help you out.,  That's what feedback I'm getting from those who've had troubles.

   Note also that SWV IS on the site, but you'll have to dig around the different types of organizations to find us.  Otherwise, click on EEVB as it's kinda the same thing.  Remember, the only membership you need is a BRONZE one, and it should cost $15.00 per person for a calendar year.

   Another side note, is that we WILL have games next Saturday.  Consider it a Pre-Season Warm up.  It'd be great if everyone has all their required forms, membership's etc, done and to me at that time.  You WILL NEED it all come May 1st., so see about getting it done for next weekend.  Again, ALL is subject to the WEATHER conditions.  I'll drop another note as we get closer.

Sammy's Weekend Volleyball & Team League Nights

NOTICE of 2021 SWV Startup & New Requirements for ALL :

To all my SWV VBall peeps!

     We are beginning our summer season on May 1st, 2021. We hope to see all our regulars and those that are new down when they can. There are some updates and changes, and I'm hoping to address that here now to all. ALSO look to an email SOON as well.

FIRSTLY - a bit of News : HELP Request !!! ( Weather Permitting 04-17-2021 - Saturday, Morning Work Party then fun after . . . . )

     We are asking for some volunteers for Saturday, April 17th, yup next weekend at this point, to help us out. IF you can make it, 9:00 - 9:30 am start, please bring a Broom, a Shovel and a Rake if ya got one. We need to do some sand/court reshaping, as well as, fix up the nets for the upcoming season, and a few other house-keeping things. I think if things go as we hope, it should take about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. AFTER that, we then would hope if there's enough of us, do some VBall scrimmaging. ALSO, to entire and sweeten the pot, THOSE that do attend, will get a (3) three week FREE to Play card for Satruday Open Games. Well, it might not be great, but it does help !  PLEASE RSVP ASAP if you can help !!!!

Second - Here's how things will work this year 2021 :

     As things have developed and the times we live in, as well as, some other additional requirements from the Town, we have had to make a few upgrades/changes to things. Those updates are as follows;

- ALL VBall members of SWV must read and know the slightly updated Rules that we play by. Especially for all our new folks. It's important to know how we play, and for everyone to understand and follow the rules laid out, so we can avoid any issues and make it possible to play as best as possible. So, do some reading with ALL attached documents that I'm including in this post!

- ALL VBall members of SWV must also read, agree to, sign and date, and return to ME ( Sammy ) the Covid-19 Affidavit. We have establish a Covid-Prevention policy that we're now going to follow as best as possible in order to keep everyone safe when our league does what it does, but with that we require that anyone that does want to continue to play and or join our merry little band, agree to the Covid Affidavit form, and get it to me with the rest of the required information you'll need to submit ASAP.

- ALL VBall members of SWV must have an Updated/Current membership to AVPAmerica.com. That's our insurance policy for everyone. It's crucial, for our safety as well, and required. Along with your Full Name, Email Address and Cell Number, it's part of the information I need from all to get you logged into our database, keep current with you, and get everyone notified when things are happening. You should email all your "vitals" as soon as possible. On that, I think that AVP is taking over, and that there's a possibility that there's going to be a price drop for sign-up....that is if I understand the recent note from the higher-up's to us little-folks is correct. More on that soon enough, but after April 15th, if you haven't already done so, head over to the AVPAmerica.com website, and seek out either Signing Up or Renewing as necessary. Note, sign up is good for a Calendar year, and Valid for ALL AVP run events. Sometimes, they even send out merch and equipment sales offers on VBall stuff. So, keep posted on that too.

- ALL VBall members of SWV that wish to play on the weekend, Saturday morning games ( 9:00am to 2:00 pm this season ), will be required to pay a $2.00 per person per day fee. Exact Change Please! Unfortunately, things get a bit more expensive, and to keep up with Medical crap, New Balls ( which are needed ), and to just maintain being able to run things, it's a necessary evil that I must ask everyone else to chip in to help out. So I hope you'll all understand this, and also feel that the $2 per day isn't so bad if you compare it to other places.

Thirdly - 2021 T-Shirts - Latest greatest SWV Collectibles !!! 😉

- I'm trying to work on the new 2021 T-Shirts for this year. Price should range around $18 - $20 bucks or so. I'll do my best in the two weeks to have a Design to post to all so you can see. Things should be similar BUT a different color T ( TBD ) and a slightly modified LOGO design....gotta see a certain Roy M about that! SO, I'm putting out to the group now for ALL those who might be interested in a new T for SWV. Just let me know you're interested and What size. Remember, the MORE we order, the cheaper things sometimes get, SOOoooo..... I'm hoping that we can maybe bring down the cost a bit and be able to get out New Great Looking T's that you'll be PROUD to show off. 😉 Well, I'm hoping so, and hope you'll let me know SOON.

Fourth - Monday's and Wednesday's Team League Info :

- There will be sent out soon enough to the Team League's Captains ( Monday's and Wednesday's - 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm ) all the updated information they'll need and use and get back to me; including a New Roster Form ( PDF Fill-in-able ), Player Affidavit, Updated ( slightly ) Rules, and updates to our Schedule and Fee's per teams / players. You'll be getting that soon enough by email, so please keep an eye out for it. Note though, our intended start date shall be Monday's - May 3rd, and Wednesday's - May 5th. Amazing, but it's all coming up SOON ! ! ! !

     And that it for now. Should anyone have any questions, etc., feel free to drop me back a note. We're looking for another continued GOOD year, and hope it'll be even be better playing than last year. Of course it all depends on you folks. Your continued help and support for all we're trying to do, and what we have to do, will allow us to keep things as SAFE as possible, and as GOOD as we can make it. General Notice to ALL League VBallers.

Hi folks,

Just saying Hi. 🙂 Well, actually I was informed the SWV Website is FIXED for sending out Posts, so this is a way to send something, hopefully to all ( or most of our group ) and just check in.

I HOPE all are doing well, avoiding Covid crap, or if you got it, get over it quick and back to full health ASAP. Hope everyone enjoyed this past "love weekend" with Saint Vallentine's Day !!! 😉 If not, play video games, eat foods you like, drink drinks you enjoy, and DO YOU!

Again, we had a really good Winter Game. Missed those that couldn't make it, and a big big thanks to those that really went all out and pitched in with bringing things, help run the show, and also helped DIG us out to actually have courts to play on., I wish I could control, or have the park do something about that, but all i can say is that I'll pitch them for a Roof Atop the courts.    Well, we've come to the end.  Looks like we've got a lucky spot on Saturday, Oct. 03, as it appears to be a cool and clear day.

So, I am sending out an invite to come down, 9:30 am start time to about 12:30 pm, to have one last day for the 2020 Season.

   Future note, I'm putting in to the Town of Hempstead Parks Dpt, for January 09, 2021, start time 9:30 am to ????  for Polar Ball IV !!!

Plan and prepare to come out and join us then too, and of course, as we get closer to that date, I'll send out a reminder email.

   Hoping to have one more good day, hope for good games with fun people.  Play safely, play to our rules, and do your best. Oh yeah!!!

Semi-Final and Final's Games for the 2020 Season

Games ON :  Start Time 6pm SHARP !!!

To ALL,

Firstly, THANK YOU ALL for a good season.  We did our best during this crazy period of our history, and I think overall things went well.  I am HOPING that next year we will truly be back to our regular season, and that I shall see you all back out there rearing to go.  I'll be bugging you all SOON about setting up for the 2021 Season, and note that I am trying my best to officially ADD one more evening for teams to play, and pick up those that couldn't make it this season, and puck up the new folks to be added into the mix as well.  At least, as always, that's the hope.

Again, ALL the teams this season did well, even if we didn't do well point wise, the season ran smoothly, and it was fun throughout.  We only missed one day, because I was a fool and bothered to listen to the reports online and on the radio.  NEVER again !!!  Urghh.....   But I am hoping you all feel as I do, and that your Wednesday evenings turned out fun and you enjoyed playing ball out there at Seamans with me.  The other point, and I hope this holds true, NO ONE, reported any illness and bad things happening to them or other teammates, so God willing, and overall, we are finally on the other side of this terrible experience, and soon to recover 100 % everywhere!!!  Again, that is my hope.

So, the top four (4) tier teams shall be playing tomorrow.  IF any of you hit the SWV website, you'll see the finalized standings that Dennis was good enough to get done and update.  The games shall run as follows;  The First series of games on both courts, shall be ONE (1) game played to 15 pt ( MAX ) as the Semi-Finals, Winner Takes ALL.  The two teams that win those games shall then immediately move to Court "A, and play a total of Best of THREE (3) games.  All games shall be to a 15 pt. ( Max ) - again, winner takes all.  

I wish ALL teams good luck, play well, play safely, and play according to our rules set that we have sent out long ago to all, and playing with along this past 2020 season.

For the Semi-Final Games, Teams in the top FOUR (4) bracket shall play as follows;  Team ONE (1) plays Team FOUR (4) on Court A, and Team TWO (2) plays Team THREE (3) on Court B.  That means the following;

Court A - VBall Team "Pancake House" vrs VBall Team "Say Pineapples"

Court B - VBall Team "Ball Busters" vrs VBall Team "Salty Nutz"

The two winners of each game will immediately begin play on Court A.

Again, Good luck to ALL teams.  PLUS, any other team is welcomed to drop by that evening to watch the games being played, as well as, the one court that becomes free, to join in a pick up game of anyone just standing around.  Hell, we got the courts, and although I may wrap up the line, you're welcomed to hang and play?!?

Can't believe it, but we're nearly at the end of the line for this 2020 season. The weather looks to be slightly cloudy, and cool. BUT should be just right to play.

So, for the final days of summer, and the second to last day for Saturday Games ( typical play ), come out and join me. I'll be there set up and ready to go.

Bring what you need; Water, Sun shades, Foot protection, and in this case, some layered clothes just in case..... bring all you need to play safely, well, and to have FUN.

General Notification to ALL VBallers
An important notice in regards to SWV basics for ALL things we do.

   We have rules to follow.  We have rules from Nassau County and the Town of Hempstead Parks Dpt.  We have rules from Seamans Neck Park.  We have rules according to how we like to run our gaming.  We have rules for SAFETY and well-being for ALL.  And we have rules that should be self-evident.  However, from time to time, "things" happen which cause us to send out information notices in order to address such "things" and get stuff running back on track.  The following are basic notes in regards to one particular item that seems to have cropped up, again, and which must again be addressed for ALL to understand how we like/demand "things" to be run, and how "things" are to be followed.  For my new folks ( and those in the know - please forward this to others on your teams, or others, etc. you want to bring down that I may not yet have in my VBALL Roster Lists ), as well as, my "Old Guard" folks, PLEASE read through the following letter to the entire group.  It's important that we all understand our intents and that we are all on the same page in order for this organization/league/group ( whatever you'd like to call us ) to run smoothly, as well as, in the hopes of reducing stress, needless drama, and problems between people.  This SHOULD be self-evident, but in light of recent events over the past several weeks time, we are re-addressing some important issues.  So, without further adieu, here is my message to you ALL.

TO all fellow SWV VBallers:

   Yes, ALL, as in even "YOU", questioning if “this applies to you.” Newsflash: it does. If you’d like to continue to be invited to play or help organize the SWV league/open game days you MUST read this email, as well as, ensure that you pass it along to any other person that would like to come down and join in with us. 

Count this email as your first, second and final warning to each and every one of the below topics.     
   We take issues involving morality VERY seriously: offenders will consequently be removed from the email roster and asked not to return to any night of the SWV leagues, open games, or anything else we do as part of our group. 
   Sadly, I must start by pointing out that the following has been brought to my attention by "YOU", on more than one occasion this season. Some have been directly effected while others have notified an organizer of SWV of the issues at hand. A quick thank you to those who came forward as either an effected person or a witness as these will NOT be tolerated. Though i DO find it baffling that I need to do so, again, as there are a few morality issues and standards that need to be clearly stated for ALL to understand and abide by. 

   All joking aside, I think my personal effort- alongside the other organizers and all others people who consistently help set up/clean up goes unacknowledged and unappreciated which has been showing in SOME general attitudes on and off the court. In my experience, it seems to be those who DON'T help out that are most out of touch with the fact that this league started with one single generous heart, filled with great intentions.  (I won’t waste time on details now but for those who are fairly new, you should ask an SWV organizer or one of the "O'l Guard" players about the history of how WE got our start. And ask what it takes me EVERY DAY OF PLAY to make things work.  

WITH THAT SAID . . . . . . . 

   1. BE NICE TO OTHERS OR FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO PLAY !!!!  WE MUST respect one another’s skill level and each other’s space for growth. EVERY LEVEL OF PLAY is WARMLY WELCOMED by the organizers of SWV and that should not be any different on the courts by all. If we’re notified you have been unkind to another player, you will be asked to leave. This league was not started to be used as a platform for bullying, teasing or meanness of any kind! 
   2. THIS IS A CLIQUE-FREE ZONE !!!! DO NOT MAKE (INTENTIONALLY OR NOT) OTHERS FEEL LEFT OUT OR EXCLUDED. I've have now heard this issue too many times from victims or witnesses who've somewhat felt this way. If you have been seen or been reported as making others feel excluded because of inflated "egos", you and your entire party will be asked leave. Everybody is welcomed here, let’s not forgot that I was the one who started this league with the intention of being INCLUSIVE and NOT EXCLUSIVE.  
You do not get to dictate who is invited to play and who isn’t to any SWV event or game day that we run. 
   3. DO NOT COMPLAIN TO ANYBODY ABOUT THE TEAM YOU ARE PLACED ON !!!!  IF YOURE UNHAPPY WITH THE WAY THINGS ARE RAN HERE, YOU DO NOT NEED TO PLAY HERE.  We A:WAYS try our best on “Open play" game days to make teams as balanced as we can based upon the players that show up each session.  PLEASE, be grateful for the fact that you are alive, healthy and even able to even be at said game day sessions. Not for nothing, but we are still in the midst of a national Pandemic !!!!  We will not tolerate certain attitudes nor undertones from people.  YOU share this Earth with 7 billion others, you share your homes family members, you share your work environment, you share public areas or your private modes of transportation with others, the stores and movie theaters, etc. that you visit.....therefore you should be able to SHARE a volleyball court with anybody for a few hours.  Egos and attitudes need to remain in check or you will remain off of our courts.  
   4. DO NOT COMPLAIN OR SPEAK ILL ABOUT PLAYER(S) ON YOUR TEAM OR DOWN AT THE COURTS.  IF HEARD OR IS REPORTED, YOU WILL BE REMOVED FROM OUR ROSTER AND ASKED NOT TO RETURN TO ANY SWV LEAGUE NIGHTS OR OTHER EVENT WE RUN IMMEDIATELY. 
I find it truly baffling that I need to state this one, but, treat others how you want to be treated. If you have nothing nice to say, DON'T say anything at all. This of course including outward expressions or within your attitude toward the game or others. We have worked to come up with a system where you ONLY pay for a $25 per year AVP membership (unless you play on a team in one of the league nights). Even then, prices have been worked out as fairly as is possible. We do not charge a team fee per session, hourly slots or charge players per game or day to play. Aside from the mandatory AVP insurance, it’s FREE to play here. Please be mindful and respectful of that. We are here to play for the love of the game, for fun, for exercise and/or to improve our skills. 
   If you find that any of the above needs further clarification, don’t hesitate to send ME or any of the organizers an email with questions. We‘re here for you and we’re all ears to any and all of your SWV concerns. If you hear or see something in violation of the above, speak up to myself (or any other organizer) about what was done to you or what you’ve witnessed. This entire league will work best if we tighten up our individual morals and standards as a whole. None of our organizers can be everywhere all at once!!Do NOT attempt to handle such issues on your own as tempers may flare and this may cause additional problems. Alert one of the organizers immediately who will then handle and address any and all concerns that folks may have.  We always work hard to improve and run things better. 

   So, that's that.  Again, Captain's of the Night Leagues, and others that have friends who would like to maybe become part of what we do, SHARE THIS NOTIFICATION with them.  To be clear, we want always to run things Safely, Better, and Stress-Free as possible.  With ALL of your help, then this is completely possible.  IF NOT, then perhaps you may want to find a different place to go?   I thank all those who helped put this notice together with me, as well as, to help me make SWV strive for a better run organization.

Ok. Really sorry. But I must postpone games for tonight, Wednesday night. IM it’s stuck between that Ol rock and hardplace today AND tomorrow.

we will try our best to add another week to the end of our season and make this day up. That’s a promise from me that I’ll do my best to figure something that will work out.

Thursday Night Cancelled :

ALSO there will be NO GAMES for this coming Thursday Night Open thing. Sucks that I can’t do it but I am behind on things and MUST catch up.

However I AM planning to run this Saturday. Maybe Sunday??? We will see. So for right now look for an update Friday in regards to it, but we are hoping to be out there.

Thursday Night "Open" Team League

Hi ALL VBallers !

   OK, here's an open invite to all of you.  Some have gotten back to me already, and that's appreciated, however, IF you'd like to also join us for this, I NEED an RSVP immediately, so I can do a head count.  Otherwise it won't work.... 🙁

   Starting this Thursday evening.  6:15 pm start time, we're gonna TRY to add another 6's CoEd Team night.  Right now, we're going to run it OPEN play.  ALL you need, beyond the typical stuff, is to have the required AVP America Membership, which if you're getting this email you should ALREADY have.  There's no fee for this year to be part of this, as we're trying to gain interest, and gain a support such that next year it might be added as a true additional team night evening play day.

   SO, if YOU and your group ( if you have ) and or if you yourself, are interested, LET ME KNOW you want in, and drop by that evening.  Thursday, 6:15 pm.

   I believe that the evening is open right now, that no other league has it, so IF we want it, we gotta get there, set up, and start play immediately.

   Again, we'll see how it goes.  IF I get the numbers up, and continued interest, then I'll be able to commit and keep it going for the rest of the season that we have.

   Let me know, as i've now said ad-nausium, and hopefully we can add this day to our roster of paly.

   Hi folks,
   We are planning to PLAY on Saturday AND Sunday.  Start at 9:30 am.  The weather is told to be H-O-T this weekend.  BE PREPARED. Bring extra water.  Bring Sand Socks.  Bring some kind of shade from the sun and heat..... i.e. whatever you need, bring.

   ALSO, due to Covid, please follow  proper protocol for safety;  social distancing,  hand wipes / sanitizer,  wear a mask if you feel you need to!  Do what you think is right and safe to keep yourself and everyone else as safe as possible.  We will try and do the same as an organization.

   Again, we're gonna do our best to keep this train moving, and be able to play at the park as best as we can.

   So, hope to see those that can and want to make it on out, and look forward seeing all of you once again.

   We can not afford to take any chances or risks.  So, I'm really being careful.  This weekend's forecast shows nothing but rain, and crappy conditions.

I do NOT want to try and start THIS season, especially due to this damned Zombie Apocalypse Crap, by trying to play in adverse conditions.  At least with a good chance of crappy conditions.   Watch now, the weather will be damned perfect!  IF SO, go there yourselves and PLAY!

   So, we are POSTPONING our Starting Saturday from tomorrow to Next Week.  Fingers crossed the weather will be GOOD and we'll be able to finally get going.

   On the "Safety" note side of things, PLEASE KNOW that while we intend to get back to playing, DUE to the Covid-19 issue, we are stressing that every player be smart about how we play, what we do, abide by standard guidelines of "proper social distancing and etiquette" throughout the season.  This way we will ALL do our best to try and avoid unnecessary illness, and problems.  We will try our best to follow these new rules, and hope that all others will do the same.  

   Be safe, Be well, and let's try to have FUN this crazy 2020 season!

2020 Summer Season

General Information

TO : ALL my VBall peeps !!! 😉

Heya folks,

For some reason, my last email blast through the SWV website went away ?!?!?!?! Gotta talk to my Computer Guru about that !!

My note indicated that WE ARE COMING BACK !!!! As of right now, as ALL things are dependent upon the NYS Government, Nassau County Government, Town of Hempstead and the Town of Hempstead Parks Dpt., AND the Seamans Neck Park folks!!!... sheesh! That's a lot to worry about . . . .

Well, we shall be resuming Weekend Gaming. Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 9:30 am. BE ON TIME, as long as we play, and be prepared with all the things you need to play.

From this point, we will be running Sunday Games on every THIRD Sunday of the month, as long as participation is good, and everything else, we will be playing. Start time 3:30 pm. typically.....

To all my Captains for the Wednesday Night Summer Co-Ed Team League. Start day is July 15th. 6:15 pm START. I think we're all good to go, as long as YOU all get everything together that I sent you and need back ASAP, we hope to have a decent season, albeit about a month and a half short. ;(.

TO ALL, you MUST have a current membership status to AVPAMERICA.com. If that's your first time, hit the page, go to the membership page, which now brings you to the AVP.org site. Sign up, which I now believe is about $25 / year ( and that's 365 days from when you join up ). You all MUST get this information back to me. A print out of your current status will be fine, as most of you write like dementia afflicted monkeys! So, make sure I can read what you provide me ! ! ! !

Gonna also try to post the 2020 General Rules and 2020 Team Rules with this note to all, so make sure you all hit it, read them, and know it backwards and forwards, as there WILL be a test at the end of the season. ( let's see how many believe that ??? ). OR check out somewhere on this website where you can hopefully FIND the damned thing...... grrrrrr! I HATE when the website changes format and I can't even find out how to copy and paste a damned thing! URGHH!!!!!

We're trying our best to get things moving and going, and I DO HOPE you ALL are well, and able to come down and play when we're finally able to do so. So, until then, stay good, and let's all look forward to something better.

Heya Folks !!!,

   In trying to think positive about life and things going on, AND to finally get a quick note out to the group about our planned 2020 SWV Summer League Season, I'm hoping to drop this email to all.

   For folks interested in forming a CoEd 6's Team and joining one or both of our planned 2020 SWV Summer Team League Nights, this message is going out to YOU. 🙂

   Right now, the permit application to the Town of Hempstead is DONE, and God willing I'll be getting back the permit in a few weeks time, if we can get through this rough patch for all of us.

   We are still hoping that by the beginning of May-ish, we will be able to kick things off, but before we need to have the League Teams set up, and good to go.  In the upcoming few weeks time, I'm gonna be sending out more information to all in regards to the requirements for this season ( which isn't much different from last season ), so your team captain's can do what you need to and get things back to me ASAP.  Again, as a requirement by the Town of Hempstead Parks & Rec's AND the Seamans Neck Park folks.

   ONE thing to remember is ALL VBaller's ( Even those coming down on the weekends ) MUST HAVE an up to date AVPAmerica.org Membership.  That info will be required on the team and personal player forms, and gotten back to ME so I can forward them to the powers that be.  You can take care of that soon enough, and note you only need to do it ONCE per person, and it's good for one calendar year's time.

   Right now, we have ONE (1) Team Slot OPEN for the Wednesday Night Game Day, and we have about FOUR (4) Team Slots OPEN for the Monday Night Game Day.

   IF you are interested, for right now, all you need to do is get back to me by Email or my Cell/Text, and let me know you'd like to Verbally Commit at this time.  Like I said, in the next few weeks, I'll be sending out all the "stuff" for everything else you'll be required to do, take care of and get back to me.

   SO, I am HOPING to finalize Wednesday, and we are pushing hard to set up the Monday Night time as well.  Please get back to me as soon as is possible to confirm.

   Last note, the former Captain's that have graciously gotten back to me, you are already confirmed for the nights you are looking to have your team play.  You'll be receiving the packet of stuff soon.

IF you can make it, Tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 08, 2020. Start time at 10:00 am. We will play to roughly 2 - 2:30 pm. Then packing up and heading on out.

IF you can, bring something to eat or drink and share.... remember if you're bringing any liquids, CUPS would be nice. 😉

GAME ON ! ! ! ! !

Heya folks,

   Well, we're going for it!  This coming Saturday morning, down at Seamans Neck Park.  10:00 am Start time, to probably around 2:30 pm....T.B.D.

   Come prepared to play some sand court volleyball IN THE COLD!  Dress warm, and in layers.  Who knows if it will rain, and or snow, and or be in the 60's temp wise???  So, try to be prepared for all contingencies. 🙂

   We ask for folks to chip in and bring something too.  Something HOT to drink and or something to munch on.  We'll have a table set up, so hopefully we'll have a little safe haven under a tent, and a nearby Space Heater to try and stay warm, hydrated, and pumped up in order to play our annual winter game.

   AFTER the game, we're heading down to "ShootersTiki Bar & Grill".  Figure around 3pm reservation under Sammy.  Their address is;  # 2109 Wantagh Ave, Wantagh, NY 11793.  So after we play, there's somewhere for those who want to, to meet up and have some adult beverages and some food and hang.

   For those who game me their orders, I should have the 2020 T's for the PolarBall IV game, and will be able to hand them out.  Please bring your shekles ready to pay for your order at that time.  🙂

   ALSO!!! Please make sure that your "AVPAmerica.Com" Membership and Number is Up-To-Date and current.  That's a requirement these days for the things we do.  PLEASE ENSURE you're legit!  😉

IMPORTANT NOTICE : GAME DAYA POSTPONEMENT !!!!!!

The planned Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020 - PolarBall IV Game is POSTPONED !!!!!

New Date : Saturday, February 08, 2020 at 10:00 am START

   This change is being done for a few reasons, mostly, the possibility of RAIN. That's our Kryptonite unfortunately. We can play in cold, snow, sleet, even hail, BUT NOT rain.  🙁

   SO, I hope you will ALL note this change, and know that we will meet up then. Saturday, February 08, 2020 at 10:00 am START.:)

   Again, I'd love to see some bring something HOT to share, under the Canopy Tent that will be set up with the table, and adjacent Space Heater(s).

   ALSO, if there are a few ( 1 or 2 ) others that can help me set up and break down. I'll be getting to the park around 8:30 am, typically. to bring in what we need, and start laying things out. IF I, and Dennis, can get some additional help that'd be great.

   Well, it's amazing to me, but we're getting close to the final end of year holidays, and that means PolarBall IV soon thereafter. 🙂  P.S.  Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year 2020 celebration to ALL ! ! ! ! !

   OK.  IF you have Facebook, and subscribed to the Sammy's Weekend Volleyball page, then you saw what the PB IV T-shirt looks like.  With Roy M and Vinny I, the new logo and T-shirt is AWESOME!!!!!  If I do say so myself.

   THIS email to our merry little group is a final call out for WHO WANTS a T-shirt.  Other than those already who have graciously sent in orders to me, I am sending out this last blast before we start to get going on the printing up of the T's.

   Again, it's a Sand color T-Shirt.  Long Sleeve, with the latest PB IV Logo, as big as possible on the front.  The cost is $20 per shirt.  I NEED anyone else interested to Email Me

   Oh, and our Winter Game Day ( to recap ) is :  January 11, 2019 - Saturday - 9:30 am start up.  IF you want/can bring something Hot to eat or drink.  Like previous years we'll have (2) Space Heaters and the Tent with a Central Table.  

   Hopefully ALL else will run smoothly, but even if not, we're preparing for contingencies.  

   Figure a few hours of fun in the sun ( and cold?!?!?! )  and then we'll head on over to our usual hangout, in this case "Bunker Hill" Bar/Restaurant.  Off Wantaugh Ave, in Wantaugh.  That should be the plan.

Sammy's Weekend Volleyball & other stuff . . . . .
LAST WEEKEND Saturday for the 2019 Season ! ! ! ! ! !

Well folks,
I'm kinda back. I DO PLAN to run a Saturday morning game this coming weekend. I won't be playing, as I still am not ready for it, BUT, will set some stuff up for those that come out and do want to play.
Start time 10:00 am, figure we'll go to about 1:00 pm. And if what I heard from the last three weeks, we should get about one solid court going with two, maybe three teams? We'll see
The weather looks to be upper 50's, low 60's, but a clear day NO RAIN. So, come prepared, possible layered clothing, and water!

This will be the LAST weekend of the 2019 season, as the Park is taking down the Nets after this weekend, as I was informed by the Parks Dpt. They were nice to keep the nets up for us one last weekend, so to all of you who can make it on out, I'll hope to see you then!

One other note, for a long term planning, January 11, 2020 start time 10:00 am, our FOURTH Annual POLAR BALL VBALL GAME DAY ! ! ! ! ! !!!!! Come out, bring something hot, and dress appropriate! After, we'll hit one of the bar/eateries that we typically attend.
Again, it'll be weather permitting, and we'll try to have a make-up day two weeks later from that date. So, pencil it down, log it into Outlook, or whatever you do, and keep that date open! The park and town has us down for it, so we're hoping to keep this annual game day going and hope that you'll all be part of it.

Only one side note, I am sorry to say that Anthony G couldn't attend due to work. SWV - Wed. Nt. League Notes :

To ALL Captain's and Teammates.....

   Congratulations to the Semi-Final Winners.  The Volleyball Villains, and the Volleyball "All Sets Are Off".  Looks like it will be a good final's game next week when you two teams go head to head.

   Also a big THANK YOU to all other teams and team players.  You guys made it fun to play this season and it was impressive to see such better shaped up games being played overall.  I hope you all had fun doing this, and will be back next season as well.   

   For next Wednesday, PLEASE NOTE, that we will have one court OPEN, SOooooo.... should there be anyone else that want's to pop down, and play some pick up VBall, please do so.  Or even just to watch the last two teams battle for First Place, and the 2019 Trophy!  OOoooooo...... it's pretty and very sparkly!

   One further note, next season, we're really trying also to push to have the Monday Night VBall season become a reality as well.  SO, if you have a team of CoEd 6's ( we suggest min. 8 ) and would be interested in that day too, PLEASE let me know.  I've got roughly three teams interested with a partial commitment already.  Would love to wrap it up come January 1st, in order to obtain the require permits, etc., etc., etc...  So you guys get first crack at it, being league members already.

   Last note, this coming Saturday is a GO, so anyone interested please come by 9:30 am on, to play some pick-up VBall.

To Team Captains and Teammates.

Due to the weather's ability to pour down on me EVERY DAMNED WEDNESDAY....well it feels like that.... I am calling a postponement for this evening.

It won't change the standings too drastically, AND I hope it will prevent any possible and needless injury due to group and weather conditions, AND the additional possibility of Heavy Downpours again.

SO, we are taking a mulligan on this day ( now watch the damned sun come out !!! ) and for this evening.

HOWEVER, we WILL PLAY next week, which is our FINAL regular day to the summer league, and WE WILL PLAY the following two weeks for the Semi and Final Game Play Days. Only FIRE and HAIL, at the same time, with lightening thrown in, will stop us.

Between now and then, I'm going to TRY and stop cursing so much, and pray extra hard. HOPEFULLY the Lord will pitty me, and give us the next three weeks, of good Wednesdays.

GAMES ON for Saturday AND Sunday this coming weekend.

OK kiddies, Been a while BUT, finally putting together a full weekend play. Hope you come down and come on time to start full games up and running as soon as possible.

Should be clear, sunny, and hot ( mid 80's ) although I don't think as humid, BUT that's still friggin HOT, so come prepared. As always I say - Bring Sand socks, or equivalent. Be as safe as possible, play by our rules, and have some FUN.

ALSO, for those still not up to snuff, I'll be selling T's those two days as well. I got 2019's, 2018, and I think a bit earlier as well. Prices vary and sizes are pot luck. So, bring your Cash Wallet's and if you'd like to LOOK COOL when playing, why not buy one of the SWV T's. 🙂

Mr. Dennis Gorman is busy laying out the score sheets onto the website for this season.  When he's done, I'll put a note out to you all so you can hit the SWV website and go take a peak and see where you stand in the ratings.

That's it for now.  Be well, hope to see ALL tonight.  6pm start.  PS, we're now heading towards the end of summer 🙁  Which means that light will begin to become an issue as we move further.  SO, I'll say this one more time, the first two teams get going ASAP.  I will have the Score Sheets on the clip boards at each court, so you guys work it all out.  PLEASE make sure you write up the score sheets clearly and correctly to make it easy for Dennis to do his job.

Game Week #8 !!!! Nearly over the Mid-Summer Season 2019

Hi guys,

We are a GO for tonight.  It MAY rain, or not.  We will still play, UNLESS there's any heavy thunder or lightening, of course.

It will be HOT - HOT - HOT, and getting hotter over the next few days, so PLEASE ensure that all your teammates have the right amount of water/gator aid, etc., sun and rain protection, etc., etc.. Play by the rules, play safely ! ! !

Hoping to see all that will be making it out tonight.  Any problems drop me a TEXT  1-516-457-2876.

I am also including the information that I sent out to ALL the other Team Captains, as there was a few issues that had gone on over the last few weeks, and I'd again like to review with all and explain a few notes to everyone so we're ALL on the same page, and can avoid problems that might crop up in the future. 

So, please read through the notes following;

A note on game play.  Again, READ the rules that we sent all of you, however, a quick note and recap on a few items;

-  IF there is an error in play ( carry, net hit, etc ), the idea is to SELF JUDGE and call any fowls that crop up.  Lord knows I've called myself on too many plays.  So it's up to EACH OF YOU to play well, and if other, call it yourself.

-  That said, IF a team see's something that isn't quite right, or thinks that there was a play violation, this is what is to be done; FIRSTLY, PLAY the play OUT, meaning until the ball goes dead.  Do that FIRST.  SECONDLY, IF someone sees something wrong, GO TO YOUR TEAM CAPTAIN and let the captain know it.  That's second.  THEN, the Team Captain will speak to the other Team Captain about what they think was wrong.  That's the way it goes!!!!

-  The two team captains will decide if there was a violation and deal with it properly, and or if they should REPLAY the play.  Again, it's UP TO YOU to figure things out....BEFORE any stupid argument occurs.

-  Last note on team play, The Team Captains shall decide BEFORE they start playing, HOW they will play;  Switching, on what point, how stringent you want to play, any "special" issue you gotta work out, do it BEFORE you actually start gaming.  That way each team, each person is understanding what and how they'll be playing, and then follow the rules for SMOOTH GAMES.

   That way, we HOPEFULLY will encourage games to be played, and without issue, as well as, making it all as fair as possible.

   That's the word for today.  Hope to see ya's later, and getting games up and started ON TIME so we can then get OUT as soon as possible, especially if the weather goes south on us.

    ANY other question or comment come see me, and or Dennis about it, and we'll try to figure shit out!

We kick off the season ( weather permitting ) THIS coming Saturday.May, 11th, 2019.  9:30 am start time.

This season we have UPDATED RULES ( see below ), and a REQUIRED Insurance for ALL members forOpen and Team Game days.  

Please hit the AVPAmerica.org website.  Select "EEVB" as the organization ( our umbrella )and pay the $20 bucks per person PER YEAR for the New Membership Number.  This seasonthe Waiver Forms require the AVPAmerica.org membership.

Hoping to see all this Saturday ( weather permitting ) and all ready to have some fun sandVBall gaming.  Bring anything you need to play safely, and let's kick things off.

Please download and read through the updated Rules & Intent, as we've tweaked things a bitmore for this year.

1).  Yearly Work Party, Seamans Neck Park :  April 27, 2019.  Start 10:00 am.   I can use as many bodies as possible.  Need Brooms, Shovels, Rakes, and some time.  We need to clean up, fix up, and re-shape the sand courts as best we can.  Your help would be great.  PLEASE leave me a note back IF you can make it.

2).  Our Season for Saturday mornings / Sunday Afternoons ( when I can ) shall start on May 11th., weather permitting, and go for as long as we can go.  NOTE :  ALL participants MUST have an AVP-America Membership and Number in good standings in order to play.  Them's the rules, and we all gotta live by them.   So, when I first see you for the season, and we all fill out those waiver form thingies, THIS information will be a required part of it to get me.

3).  We are looking to ALSO do something on Monday evenings, IF I can work it out, and IF we can get enough people to make it work.  MORE to COME on that soon, so stay tuned.  Since you'll all have your AVP America Number, it'll be easy for you.

To :   ALL Vballers crazy enough to be part of SWV ! ! ! !

Hi folks,
   Well, we are coming to the wire and getting ready and geared up to start stuff for the 2019 season.Welcome ALL who will be coming back, and to the newer folks that we've been lucky enough to pick upduring the winter.  Hope to see you down when you can make it.

1).   First order of business :  Work Party at Seamans Neck Park :

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS !!!   We are looking at April 27, 2019 start time at 10:00 am.  Rain date the next day, Sunday the 28th.   IF possible, I need bodies with shovels, rakes, and hands on deck to help out get some things back into better working order for this season.  IF you can make it PLEASE drop me a note and let me know if you can come, and if you have any gardening tools ( Shovel, Rake, Broom ) to bring to help out.     We'll be shifting the sand grade again.  Fixing up the nets again.  and just a general spruce up.  If we can all be there on time, it shouldn't take more than roughly 2 hours as it did last year ( to whom I still say a big thank you too! ).  So, LET ME KNOW.

2).   Second Note :  The SWV 2019 Weekend Season  & AVP America

Membership Requirement :
   Sammy's Weekend Volleyball OPENER :  We are scheduling to begin, again weather permitting us to do so, May 18th, 2019.  Start time 9:00 am to roughly 1:30 pm.  And guess what, "I" have a PERMIT to do so.  Therefore, THIS season EVERYONE MUST go get an AVP America membership number, and then when down sign off on my typical waiver form.  That's it.  No other fee for the ENTIRE SUMMER ! ! ! !, including Sunday's when we run things as that I listed down as a "MAKE-UP" day.  The Town of Hempstead approved it.
   To obtain your AVP America yearly membership go to :                    https://www.avpamerica.com/Add-Player.aspx
   When there, and when you register, select "East End Volleyball" from the dropdown menu for the Org/Beach club, selection.  That's our umbrella coverage.  You will obtain your registration number, of which MUST be given to ME.  Then, we'll have NO worries when we do any of our group things, as well as, any other "organized" play we decide to do or hold.  ALSO, this way, the court is OURS on those days and times, and so we will be a bit more protected from other groups who now have eyes on our piece of sand!
   ALSO, note that when you obtain your AVP America membership, you'll be all set should you decide to do anything with the AVP, EEVB, as well as, our own SWV, in the future.  And on that note, I have been given information to spread to our group something that you also might all be interested in.  Please read the following;

Two new local leagues are available to the SWV players in case they want to play another night during the summer:

-   Monday at Nickerson Beach: any team from your group can play for $225 / team -   Thursday down at Pt. Lookout: for $350 / Team

NOTE : Teams MUST be pre-register by April 30^th and mention your name ( Sammy's Weekend Volleyball - Sammy Ciccolella ).   Although, the Monday thing technically conflicts with ME, you never know.  So if ANYONE is interested, you have a special rate thing if you are at all wanting to do so.  Wow! An actual "perk" through SWV. 🙂

3).   Next Order of Business :   SWV Monday and Wednesday CoEd 6's Team League :

   To all our VBallers out there.  IF you're at all interested, and time is coming close to our Team Start, slated right now for May 13th for Monday's and May 15th for Wednesday's, PLEASE get in touch with me ASAP.  
   We are looking for teams for the Monday Night Day, and possible "Free Agents" for the Wednesday Night Days we play.   Again, this is a pay to play team league, exclusive to our SWV members first.  I will have the absolute costs per team by next week, and shoot that out to all.  Also, for it, you NEED to have your AVP America membership in good standing, SO, if you act now and pick it up soon, you'll have it whether you're looking to form a new Monday Night Team, and or go Free Agent with anyone for Monday's or Wednesdays.
   The season is ALSO gong to run a bit longer this year.  Where Typical League Play shall be ending on the week of September 2nd. Monday and 4th Wednesday, the following two weeks shall be the Semi-Finals and Finals Playoff Days.  This hopefully will better work for most's schedules, as we learned from last year.So, Monday Semi-Finals Sept. 9th, Finals Sept. 16.  AND  Wednesday Semi-Finals Sept. 11th., and Finals Sept. 18th.  Again, we hope that this better fits most all's schedules.
   We have a slight update to the Rules and Notes, which over the course of the next week/weekend, I shall pump out to the entire group.  I am just happy to bring out THIS, my first 2019 Season Group Notice out to everyone at this time.
   Again, we play by the rules we have set down.  We look to play good games as possible.  We always look to play smart and SAFE.  AND bottom line, let's have some FUN.  That's what it's really all about.
   I look forward seeing everyone, and more, again this season, so pass the word to everyone, and we'll be in touch soon.

But time marches on, no pun intended, and here we already find ourselves at the First of March! Well, seems that Spring 2019 is right around the corner, and we will hopefully be kicking things back up soon enough, as long as the weather behaves.

In that, a note to ALL, we are doing our regular Wednesday Night Team League, CoEd 6's, AND we are trying to also do Monday Nights, same thing. IF anyone is interested and has a team, or wants to join a team, get back to me now. At this time, we've got 5 commitments of teams for Wednesday night, and one possible ( we will see how it works out ), yet no one yet for Mondays. I'll be posting out the requirements, similar pretty much to last season, on that to all soon.

Other than that, I'm hoping to getting back to resume some fun in the sun on Saturdays, and hope to actually get motivated and do a few ( more than that hopefully ) of Sunday afternoons too. Again, look for future posts on that as I normally do.

So, to all our returning "Pro's", welcome back, and psyched to see you all again, and to our New Fledgling "Newbs" Welcome to the madhouse. 🙂

Polar Ball III - New Custom Logo T's and Hoodies :  Note to all who placed an order with me.

Dear ALL,

Just want to let you know that the Order was finalized and placed today and set in motion with the company I use.   I'll have all the T's and Hoodies delivered on or about January 12th, 2019.

So a big THANKS to all that pitched in and placed their orders to me by email as I needed and requested.  I think the new custom Logo is AWESOME, and they look really good on both the Long Sleeve T's and the pocketed Hoodies, we're getting.

Please have your cash money ready come Game Time - January 12th ( weather permitting ) to pick your order up.  I think it'll look classy and cool for the group that will be crazy ( errrr..... ) I mean TOUGH enough to come out in the winter and play some VBall.

PS - THIS season, as this is actually a permitted / insured event, I have been in touch with the park manager, who told me that THEY WILL SandBonie the courts sand areas prior to game day.  That's awesome too, as God willing we will NOT need to chisel our way down to the sand in order to smooth out the gaming area.  At least that's the plan, and time will tell.

So, have a wonderful holiday season, a Fantastic and Merry Christmas Time, and a wonderful and SAFE New Year's 2019 Celebration, and plan to be out there on Jan. 12th, around 10 am to start up gaming!   Oh yeah, on that, all those who are willing to bring something to eat and HOT to drink, please drop me a note.  The more the merrier, and helpful it'll be if I can get a few to do that!!!

It may be a bit wet on Saturday, and cool too. Dress appropriately and be prepared.
I still plan to be out there, and at the very least I have traffic cones for the courts and
will go very frugal with the rest of the stuff I bring.

Sunday looks like it should be the best day to play, so let's try to be there and ready
to go at 3pm.

Also, LOTS of fun with the new (3) hit rule BEFORE the ball goes over the net. Just
about everyone, after initial complaints, begun to get into it, and it made for MUCH
BETTER GAMES. SO, start looking for THAT RULE to kick in after a game or two
when we get going. Get ready to play ACTUAL volleyball again! 😉

monies for the collection for Anthony. It's still going on as I mentioned up until Oct. 27th,
when we're supposed to have our Halloween Game on Saturday Afternoon. IF you'd

Fundraiser Help for Anthony Giordano & Family :

Hi folks,

Last week I put out the note about Anthony having a stroke. Over this past weekend, I was informed that he's now at St. St. Charles Hospital, Room 422, convalescing and recovering.

Thankfully he survived this ordeal, and now will be on the long road to recovery. I know that it's been a tough few years for him and his family, and what I have decided to do to help out is try and put together a Fundraiser through all of us VBaller's that know and love him, and get to him and his family whatever we can.

What I'm asking is for any and all who may want to help out, please get to me whatever you think you can and able to contribute. I'll be taking cash and or checks made out to cash between NOW and up to October 27th. You can find me still out on Saturday's and Sunday's ( Weather Permitting ) down at Seamans Neck Park, and or through Mr. Bob Rozakis' Indoor clinic on Wednesday's at the Farmingdale High School. You could also mail me your contribution to my office at : #52 Commerce Drive, East Farmingdale, NY 11735, if you can't make either of those two places mentioned.
You could ALSO give your contribution to Mr. Mike Kelly and or Mr. Dennis Gorman, if you catch them at one of the numerous other places that they play VBall at during the week, and they will hand that off to me.

By Saturday, October 27th, 2018, when we'll be hopefully having our Halloween Game down at Seamans Neck Park, will will tally all we are able to make, and I will put together a Card, listing all those that are able to contribute to the Giordano's, and at some point that following week get down to hopefully see Anthony and his wife Patti ( either at the hospital if he's still there, and or drop by his home ) and hand the gift off to them personally.

I am not sure if at some point Patti, Anthony's wife, might do a "GoFundMe" thing or not, or some other thing. So, that's why I, after discussing with a few other of our SWV "Executives" :), have decided to try and do our own thing. I'm hoping that most of you might be interested in being part of this.

So that's the note for now. Again, Cash and or a Check made to "Cash" given to me, and or mailed to my office up to the 27th of this month is what we're gonna try to do. I know that whatever we can do will be greatly appreciated by Anthony and his family, and whatever we do will also be of a big help for them at this time.

We have so much fun playing volleyball with all of you, and one thing we have learned is to never take anything for granted. We would give it all up if we could trade it for Brayden’s steps and his words, and just getting on the court and being able to play is a victory for us, and to be able to do it with good people that we can call our friends is even sweeter.

THANK YOU!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!! LIFE IS GOOD......

     Sammy’s Weekend Volleyball and group are proud to help out and support the

following fundraising Event, and hope that you ALL and others will join in.

    This is for ONE OF US ! ! !  The Fundraising Event will be on September 28, 2018 for

Melanie & Chris Biscuiti’s son Brayden, who needs a bit of help for paying ALL those bills

in order to receive the Physical Therapy which is very important that little Brayden gets.

    The Sept. 28^th event is being held at “The Turning Point”, located right in Farmingdale,

( #48 Motor Parkway, Farmingdale, NY 11735 ), and shall kick off at 7:00 pm and run

to 12:00 am.   For a mere $20 entry at the door, you’ll get (2) two Drink Tickets ( 5oz ),

(2) two Raffle Tickets AND a 15% OFF other Bar Items being sold.  A pretty sweet deal!!!

    There’s gonna be raffles, 50/50 games, Drinks and other items to buy for donation

too that night!  The raffles will be CALLED at 10:00 pm, so make sure you’re there nice and

early to get what you need to stand a chance to win various prizes, AND there’s going to

also be Live Music between 8:00pm to 11:00 pm.  DON’T MISS OUT on this awesome event,

and to join in the fun, ALL FOR A GREAT CAUSE ! ! ! ! ! !

Heya folks,

Saturday Games are ON.  Start Time 9:45 am SHARP.  We need to start as soon as possible, as I am LEAVING at / around 12:45 pm, as I have a work thing later in the day I must get ready for.

SO, get to the park as soon as you can to come out, get team up and running, and play as long as possible.  Weather should be good, bring what you need to play, play by our rules, be safe, and have fun!
